Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a painless, non-invasive and advanced medical imaging technology that allows physicians to examine structures of the human body that may not be visible with other imaging techniques. MRI provides clear and detailed images of internal organs and tissues using a strong magnetic field and radio frequency waves. Radiation is not used and there are no known side affects.

There are two types of MRI methods used in the field today: High Field MRI and Open MRI. HVRA uses High Field MRI because it provides for the highest level of image quality.

Our MRI technicians are trained and experienced in MRI, and our High Field MRI program is accredited by the American College of Radiology.

A number of MRI exams are available depending on the area of the body being examined. For information on these specific exams, visit RadiologyInfo's MRI page or view our MRI Study Basics.

About Your Exam

MRI A typical MRI exam takes from 15 to 45 minutes to complete, depending on the study being performed. Our MRI Study Basics document provides specific details on the length of the exam, how you will be positioned for the exam, sample images, and other details.

During your exam, you will be asked to lie still. Our MRI facility is equipped with a stereo system for your listening pleasure during the exam, so feel free to bring your favorite CD or ask the technologist for a specific genre. In some specific cases, an injection of contrast material will be required to provide maximum image clarity.
