HVRA Is One of the First Connecticut Diagnostic Imaging Providers to Receive ACR Accreditation for Radiography/Fluoroscopy Procedures
What This Means to You,
You will be imaged only by experienced, licensed and registered radiological technologists.
You will be imaged with state-of-the-art equipment that has passed all the comprehensive standards set by the American College of Radiology.
You will have your images interpreted only by board certified, experienced radiologists.
Our Patients:
Dr. Conrad P. Ehrlich, medical director at Housatonic Valley Radiological Associates, said: "We are pleased to have met the high standards the ACR has set for diagnostic x-ray and fluoroscopy. Having met ACR's comprehensive standards means that our staff offers the highest levels of accuracy and professionalism, ensuring the most beneficial experience for our patients."
Radiography/Fluoroscopy uses x-ray technology to examine bones, the chest area (lungs and heart), and upper and lower gastrointestinal tracts. For fluoroscopy procedures, patients are asked to drink a solution in order for the radiologist to view its path throughout the body. Fluoroscopy examines tissues and deep structures of the body by x-ray using the fluoroscope, a device that projects radiographic or x-ray images in a digital, movie-like sequence onto a TV monitor. Over the last two years, HVRA's x-ray and fluoroscopy suites have been fully updated with new imaging equipment.
The ACR has established accreditation programs in nearly every type of diagnostic imaging test performed today. In addition to being recognized by patients, managed care plans are now beginning to recognize the importance of ACR accreditation. HVRA currently holds ACR accreditation for high field MRI, mammography, spiral CT (CAT) scan, radiography, fluoroscopy, and obstetrics, general, vascular, and breast ultrasound.
ACR's evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. The surveyors report their finding to the ACR's Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.
