ACCREDITATIONS
An accrediting body designated by the FDA, the American College of Radiology (ACR) defines guidelines and standards for the practice of radiology to help advance the field and to improve the quality of service to patients throughout the U.S. For over 75 years, the ACR has devoted its resources to making imaging safe, effective and accessible to those who need it.
HVRA is accredited by the ACR for the following exams and procedures:
To be accredited by the ACR, equipment and personnel must meet specific qualifications set by the ACR, and a high level of image quality is required for these accreditations. Other accrediting bodies exist and may also be acceptable, provided their criteria are at least as rigorous as those of the ACR.
The federal Mammography Quality Standards Act requires all mammography facilities to be accredited by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). Other ACR accreditation programs in stereotactic breast biopsy, ultrasound, breast ultrasound, mammography, MRI, nuclear medicine, radiation oncology, radiography, fluoroscopy and computed tomography (CT) are voluntary and demonstrate a facility's ongoing commitment to patient care.
